THE RACE IS ON...

Gentlemen...Start your Guns! So it's that time of the year; A-basin or Loveland? Last season, A-Basin just clipped Loveland at the tape when it opened Oct. 10th, the earliest date in its 61-year history. , but Loveland has the record for the earliest opening – Oct. 6, 1985.

The top of Araphoe Basin a few days ago, September 24th, the Basin is claiming they will open October 10th 2009 this year.

The Base of A-Basin today....

The view of Loveland from yesterday, looks to me like they have more snow than A-Basin???

KEEP UP WITH THE RACE HERE or HERE..........

FREESTYLE CH IS ON

Tonight the Freestyle CH in Zurich kicked off
Flow's Tim Humphrey's was drawn for the first qualification group on Friday night. Strong names such as Peetu Piiroinen or Swiss guy Nicholas Mueller had been in the group as well.
But before the qualification Swiss Rapper "Stress" fired up the crowd.
The qualification was from the beginning on a high level, where e.g. the German Elias Elhardt showed a very strong performance.

Tim showed some sick tricks and he turned out to be one of the crowds favorite, here Tim throws a double backside rodeo
Gian Simmen interviewing Tim for the crowd.
Unfortunately in the end Tim didn't stick his last sick double BS rodeo perfectly and missed the super final on Sunday.
But as you see he still can be happy with his performance as the crowd loved him.

Stay tuned for more info from the Freestyle CH in Zurich

Bruno says the performance was “so cute” and it was like watching a “dancing hobbit.” The couple earned a 19 and 8 points for their Salsa relay dance.

Middle America Fall Tour Part 1

Driving through Indiana, I run into to Dru Williams and his homies having a little back yard "Gel Jam" action. Getting antsy for winter, shreddy's all over the heartland are doing whatever it takes to get ready for the up coming season. Thanks to ice rink shavings and snow gels, rail jams and snowboarding events still go down with or without snow. Above Dru Williams bust a 270 etc. etc., Below Dru's Granny shows up to peep out the gnar.(Photos by: SHarpie)

Also, a shout out to 13 year old Riku Nakajima, who was killing it all day..Riku dropping in before a steezed out, gelled out, backside noseslide.

win win WIN!

Age:26 Name: Andreas Katsonis
How long have you been riding?
I've been riding for a few months now. Since December 2008. I used to be a skier until my girlfriend convinced me to try snowboarding last year and I was hooked right away. Since then all I can think about is hitting the slopes whenever the snow is good :).
What's your favorite style of riding?
So far I've enjoyed freeriding since I'm still working on my technique. I'm working on my carving technique to pick up freecarving next season and hopefully also get into freestyle.
What's your favorite shop?
I like Sierra Snowboard. They have good deals on gear. I also used flow.com to help me find the board that would work for me.
Local mountain?
I love going to Lake Tahoe. At a 6 hour drive from Los Angeles, it's near enough to go over the weekend. Alpine Meadows was my favorite slope since it tends to be less crowded and has the best powder I experienced.
Favorite beer?
Leffe on tap.
What do you do when not snowboarding?
I try to be active and have have a good time. Life is too short to stay home. Like one of my colleagues once said, "work is what comes in between weekends". I normally try to get a group of friends together to go hiking, rafting, or, kayaking. If time is short I hit the gym.Two of the things I want to do next are riding ATV's at the Pismo Beach sand dunes, and hiking Malibu Creek. Other than that I really enjoy seeing independent musicians and comedy theater around LA.

IF IN THE BIG APPLE NEXT WEEKEND......

COME CHECK OUT THE MAGNIFICENT DJ CHARLIE KWENTA IN BROOKLYN

4th of JULY BOWL, BRECKENRIDGE COLORADO....BEAT UP

The town of Breckenridge, CO. and Keystone in the background to the left. And if you have ever been to Breck you may have heard of or seen the Fourth of July Bowl. Named that because every year people trek up to the 13,000 foot peak and ski, snowboard, tele, or sled down the massive steep bowl.

Nestled high above the Resort and the chair lifts at 12,500 to 13,000 feet sits Peak Ten of the Ten Mile Mountain Range. This picture taken on the 4th of July. The jib spot is at the base of it.

A snowboarder gets kicked out as the US Forest workers move in to clean "the mess"

Us Forest workers clean up "the mess" left behind by our kind. Six bags of trash!!! Beer cans, water bottles, candy wrappers, just junk! WTF!! This is why they are taking all the rails and jibs down in this picture, cause of F'ing trash! Thanks to everyone who sucks and left shit behind, you ruined it for everyone! From here on out remember the saying..."bring out what you bring in".....PLEASE!
